"The Day of The Lord"

1. Definition:

   Time set aside by God to judge the ungodly living on earth (Romans 2:3-9; II Peter 3:7; Revelation 9:20,21), and to purify the nation of Israel (Isaiah 1:24-28; Ezek.7:19 20; Amos 5:18,19)

2. Description:

   Zephanian 1:14-18 "The great Day of the Lord is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the Lord: the mighty man shall cry bitterly That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers. And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung. Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord's wrath; but He shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land."

3. Starting point:

   Begins after The Rapture, the very same day God's people are delivered, His Wrath will begin. (Luke 17:22-36) The Day of the Lord does not begin at the start of Daniel's Seventieth Week, but does begin at the opening of the Seventh Seal (Revelation 8:1) revealing God's Wrath contained inside the Large Scroll.

4. Signs:

   Two Old Testament Prophets and four New Testament Writers confirm the awesome heavenly signs that will be manifested before the Day of the Lord begins:Isaiah 13:6-13 v.10 "For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine." Joel 2:31 "The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible Day of the Lord come." Matthew 24:29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken" Mark 13:24,25 "But in those days after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken." Acts 2:20 "The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable Day of the Lord come. Revelation 6:12 "And I beheld when He had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood"

5. Includes:

   All that is contained inside the Large Scroll, The Seven Trumpet Judgments, The Seven Bowl Judgments and the Battle of Armageddon, but not the Seals on the outside of the Large Scroll.(Revelation 8:1-11:19 & 15:1-19:21)

6. Ends:

   The Day of the Lord ends thirty days after the end of Daniel's Seventieth Week culminating with Christ's victorious triumph at the Battle of Armageddon (Daniel 12:11; Revelation 19:11-21)
